Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, a leading specialist in cattle at Zinpro Corp, Alexander Radionov, said that the cost of protein feed in Russia has increased dramatically — up to two times.

We remind that since June 17, 2021, the Rosselkhoznadzor has banned the import of feed and feed additives from British and Canadian companies, and at the end of June — from the Czech Republic and Poland, which led to an increase in the cost of these products in Russia. Since domestic animal husbandry largely depends on imported supplies, experts predict another jump in prices for feed and feed additives at the end of this year.

For a comment, the agency turned to the company Zinpro Corp — one of the world leaders in the production of organic trace elements.

‘Now it is difficult to say on which market the increase in the cost of feed and feed additives depends, since they are all strongly connected, - says Alexander Radionov, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, a leading specialist in cattle at Zinpro Corp. In this case, of course, this is an external influence, since there was no explosive increase in the growth of livestock in the country or an increase in the consumption of livestock products.

When asked what farmers should prepare for, the expert answered as follows:

— As usual, to an increase in prices, now also for energy sources in the diets of animals.

He predicts that due to crop failure, the cost of feed will increase in a number of regions of Russia:

- As they say, the one who knows everything in advance is rich. Therefore, correct forecasts are expensive. Again, it all depends on the region. We have a very large country, so the influence is not the same.

According to the expert, the difficult situation will not affect the feed market in any way. The farms will continue to feed the animals as before. It is possible that weaker players will "fail", lose profits, and start asking for help and support from the state. Actually, this is how it always happens, regardless of the harvest.

- Regarding the procurement of the missing feed ingredients, nothing much will change, all the ways have been established, contacts have been paid, - the leading specialist explained. - Agriculture is a rather conservative and slowly changing sphere. Irrigation may begin to develop.

The expert said that the company Zinpro Corp works with micro-components, and produces high-tech products in which the cost of raw materials is quite small, compared with the costs of science and technology.
