The price growth in Russia is 6.5% per year, said Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday at a meeting with representatives of the United Russia party. ‘The actual inflation rate is 6.5% year-on-year today,’ said the head of state.

At the same time, according to him, the financial authorities of the country are taking the necessary measures to return this indicator to the planned level. ‘The government and the Central Bank (CB) are taking all necessary actions to reduce the parameters of inflation. They are tasked with returning the inflationary processes to the framework that would correspond to the level and plans for the development of our economy and social sphere,’ the president said.

According to him, the actions taken are ‘absolutely adequate to the financial situation.’

At the same time, Putin stressed that additional payments, which are made, in particular, to military and other categories of citizens, should not be leveled by the level of inflation. He reminded that initially it was supposed to index the monetary allowance of military personnel at an inflation rate of about 4%.

‘This indexation, planned for inflation, which we expected earlier, is not enough,’ noted the head of state. He added that monetary incomes of certain categories of citizens also need to be increased.

Putin noted that for senior citizens of the Russian Federation, real inflation is higher than the average of 6.5% due to the structure of consumption.

‘I said about the average inflation figure of 6.5% year-on-year, but for elder people it is probably even more. Why? Because their consumption structure is different,’ noted the head of state.
