Lemon, honey, and garlic strengthen immunity but play no considerable role in preventing coronavirus, Russia's Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-being (Rospotrebnadzor) said in a statement.
Citruses, honey or garlic reinforce overall immunity and may be useful in fighting a fever. However, they play no significant role in preventing coronavirus, and other respiratory diseases, the statement reads. To protect from coronavirus, it is necessary to follow rules of social distancing, wash hands and disinfect surfaces, the agency said.
Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, has originated in China's 'wet markets' and spread all over the world. On March 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared it a pandemic.
Now affecting 210 countries and territories, the deadly pathogen has claimed more than 113,000 lives globally. Over 1,400,000 people are infected with the disease.
NEWS.ru reported earlier that myths about benefits of ginger and lemon in fighting coronavirus had been dispeled.
