Specialists of the ecosystem for farmers "Svoye Farming" from Rosselkhozbank named four key drivers of the agro-industrial complex for the next three years. These included the development of livestock and crop genetic and breeding areas, the creation of new types of organic fertilizers and plant protection products, digital services for the agro-industrial complex in the field of precision farming, as well as the development of online trade, the press service of the bank told.  Rosselkhozbank told about the drivers for the agro-industrial complex for the next three years

The first trend is dictated by the issue of providing the domestic agro-industrial complex with its own seeds and genetic material, which has become aggravated against the background of sanctions restrictions. According to analysts, the state-implemented program for the development of selection and seed production, as well as additional state support measures, will contribute to the active development of the seed industry and selection in the near future. In early August, the Ministry of Agriculture announced that it would develop a plan for the accelerated transition of crop production to seeds of domestic selection. In particular, in order to accelerate the introduction of Russian breeding into agricultural production, it is planned, by analogy with mineral fertilizers, to form a plan for the purchase of seeds by region.

Analysts of the “Own Farming” ecosystem believe that in the coming years, genomic methods in animal husbandry will also develop rapidly, which will allow selecting the best individuals for breeding at early stages of development. While genomic breeding in Russia is only in its infancy, most farms use traditional methods of animal breeding assessment, which cannot be compared with genomic breeding in terms of efficiency. The latter will make it possible to improve the gene pool of agricultural animal populations in a fairly short time, which, in particular, will help increase the milk and meat productivity of livestock, analysts say.

The second trend - the creation of new types of organic fertilizers and biological plant protection products - is dictated by the global trend in the struggle for environmentally friendly agriculture. It is gaining momentum in our country, and in the future it will retain its importance, analysts of Rosselkhozbank believe. In particular, the development of this area will be associated with the expected growth of the organic products market. According to the National Organic Union, in Russia more than 290 thousand hectares of land are certified for organic production, the market is growing by about 10% per year. State support for this area will stimulate the production of organic and microbiological fertilizers, as well as biological plant protection products, ecosystem analysts argue.

The next trend is the development and implementation of digital services based on precision farming technologies that will help agribusiness enterprises optimize costs and achieve higher yields through clear planning, competent selection of varieties and hybrids based on the conditions of a particular farm, dosed fertilizer application and constant monitoring of the state of agricultural crops. According to experts, the use of such services can increase productivity by up to 25-30% and reduce costs by up to 30%.

The fourth trend was outlined during the COVID-19 pandemic and continues to develop actively: all types of businesses have begun to massively switch to the online trading format. The number of marketplaces will continue to grow, Rosselkhozbank analysts are sure, especially since the modern consumer, especially in megacities, has already developed the habit of ordering goods online.
