Rosselkhoznadzor head Sergei Dankvert met with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and told him that the situation with dangerous animal diseases in Russia is better than in the US and Europe, Rosselkhoznadzor reports.

"The past year has shown that the situation with the main dangerous diseases that have been spreading is much better in our country than in Europe and America," Sergey Dankvert said.

Dankvert stressed that this is especially true for Europe. "Europe over the past year has received such a spread of African swine fever - they have 7.7 thousand cases - that pig farming turned out to be at a high risk and there is a question about its existence at all," the head of the Rosselkhoznadzor noted.

According to him, a difficult situation is also observed with avian influenza, which was not given much importance, while in Russia they made a vaccine, vaccinated livestock in areas adjacent to water bodies. Dankvert recalled that wild birds are the main carriers of this disease, and wild boars are carriers of African swine fever. “And here are the numbers of destruction in Europe and America: America destroyed more than 50 million birds, Europe also destroyed more than 50 million. Even Japan destroyed 14 million due to bird flu. And here, despite the fact that our territory is so huge, - figures that do not affect the situation in meat production at all," the head of the department said.

To eliminate African swine fever, you just need to have full traceability and an understanding that the level of safety of the enterprises themselves needs to be raised. "And what happened in Europe now, when it is impossible for them to establish the appropriate level of security, leads to great losses. Therefore, the spread of the African plague is already difficult to stop," Dankvert said.

The head of the Rosselkhoznadzor added that in Russia during this time an electronic traceability system and electronic certificates were introduced, and regionalization was carried out for 140 diseases. “Now the electronic system coordinates what can be sent where and whether this veterinary certificate will pass or not. Then we made the compartmentalization of pig farms. And now they are already asking: do it in poultry farms,” Dankvert said.
