Russia and India have agreed to expand the supply of various types of livestock products to each other’s markets, Rosselkhoznadzor reported.

Such an agreement was concluded by the assistant to the head of the department, Artyom Daushev, with representatives of the Indian delegation that arrived in Russia as part of the International Autumn Food Exhibition “WorldFood Moscow”. It was represented by employees of the Indian ministries of trade and industry, fisheries, livestock and dairy, as well as representatives of the country's Embassy in Russia. The parties noted the positive dynamics in the development of trade relations between both countries, both in volume and in the list of products. For example, Russia was recently able to agree on certificates for the supply of food for productive animals, as well as wool and leather raw materials, to India.

At the same time, Daushev noted that there is still a serious imbalance in mutual supplies of agricultural products. In particular, today Russian fish processing enterprises still do not have access to the Indian market. The meeting participants agreed to work on this issue with the participation of responsible departments from both countries. For their part, guests from India expressed interest in accreditation of their new enterprises for the production of fish and seafood for their supply to the territory of the Russian Federation. Daushev assured them that this issue could be considered after inspections of the relevant manufacturers. However, when they will be held has not yet been discussed. The Indian side also asked to expand the list of local producers who will be able to import frozen buffalo meat to Russia. The representative of Rosselkhoznadzor also supported this proposal, but in return asked to provide information about the epizootic situation in India regarding cattle diseases.

Following the negotiations, representatives of both countries expressed their readiness to maintain and develop mutually beneficial bilateral trade relations and expand both the volume of supplies of their products to each other’s markets and the list of specific items. In addition, the Indian side, taking this opportunity, invited representatives of Rosselkhoznadzor to visit a similar food exhibition “WorldFood India 2023”, which is scheduled to take place in early November in New Delhi.
