Rosselkhoznadzor has introduced a temporary ban on import of Japanese pork from five prefectures of the country. The import of pigs from five regions of Japan is prohibited to Russia, reports rosng.ru.

These are the regions of Aichi, Gifu, Nagano, Osaka and Shiga. On their territory  the Russian veterinary services have documented cases of classical swine fever (CSF). This information came from the International Bureau of Epizootic. The Russian side has already banned the transportation of live pigs from these territories, as well as their embryos and meat and skins. The exception will be products that have undergone thermal and other processing, during which the viability of the viruses of this disease is lost.
