Russia exported pork and offal totaling 106,000 tonnes in the year to November, increasing its shipments by 11% compared to a year ago. These results makes the country a net exporter, according to the Agriculture & Horticulture Development Board (AHDB).
Felicity Rusk, trainee analyst at AHDB, said that the growth is mainly based on an increase in exports to Vietnam, Belarus, Azerbaijan and Ukraine. Shipments to Vietnam increase over two fold in the year to November, reaching 15,000 tonnes.
On the other hand, shipments to Russia's largest export destination, Hong Kong, totaled only 26,000 tonnes, down almost 23% year-on-year.
Russia's fresh and frozen pork exports rose by nearly a quarter year-on-year, reaching nearly 30,000 tonnes in the year to November. Meanwhile, exports of frozen offal increased by 44,000 tonnes, an 11% increase compared to the same period in the previous year.
