In 2021, the Russian Federation imported 564.4 million units of hatching eggs. This amount of the product was bought from other countries, and it is less than from January 1 to October 29, 2020, by 13.4%. This is reported by the Rosselkhoznadzor.
According to the ministry, domestic production in the country is at a stable level. In the Russian Federation, many projects are being implemented that are directly related to poultry farming. For example, one of the projects concerns the production of hatching eggs. Poultry farms are gradually reorienting their work, entering a closed production cycle. To do this, they buy their own reproducers and incubators.
Chicken producers will avoid costs due to supply disruptions. In addition, due to entering a closed production cycle, the risks of introducing dangerous diseases, including bird flu, will be reduced. By the way, the epizootic situation with regard to avian influenza in the EU is worsening (this year there have been more than two and a half thousand outbreaks). Most often, poultry influenza is recorded in countries that account for more than seventy percent of the total Russian import of hatching eggs.
Last year Russian poultry farms produced 2.768 billion hatching eggs, and this year they will most likely produce more - 2.811 billion.
