According to aiz.info, the state government estimates that the production of animals for slaughter in Russia, including poultry, will be around 15.42 million t live weight in 2020, 1.7% higher than in the previous year. In 2023, production is likely to be 6.6% higher than in 2019, quoted the Moscow trade journal "Agroinvestor" from a development forecast published by the Moscow Ministry of Economic Affairs.
According to the department, meat production could be boosted by opening up new export markets, among other things. According to the forecast, raw milk production is set to grow even more strongly, which in the period from 2010 to 2016 still showed a predominantly negative trend, but has since increased slowly again, to almost 31.4 million tonnes last year.
A further increase of 2.3% is now forecast for 2020 and 6.8% over the next three years. Against this background, the Ministry of Economic Affairs expects domestic production of cheese and curd cheese to expand, while that of butter is likely to decline, writes aiz.info.
