As part of an extended meeting of members of the Board of Directors of the National Union of Pig Producers, experts discussed the growth of production of pig products and the main directions for their export. Experts named Belarus and Vietnam as the largest destinations of last year.
In total, over the past year, 91.8 thousand tons of pork products were supplied to Belarus, and 86.1 thousand tons to Vietnam, the union said in a statement, which was reviewed by sfera.fm. Both directions showed an increase of 12% and 89%, respectively. The recovery in exports is due to favorable conditions on the world pork market - the depreciation of the ruble and domestic prices. Exports to Mongolia and Serbia also increased significantly - by 38% and 169%, respectively. In absolute terms, 9.2 thousand tons and 9.6 thousand tons of pork were supplied to these countries during the year, respectively.
At the moment, in the period from January to June, exports continue to grow especially to Serbia and Hong Kong - by 64% and 63%, respectively, or by 2.9 thousand tons and 2.1 thousand tons. Exports to China are also actively increasing - 9.1 thousand tons of pig products were supplied in 2024. This year Belarus and Vietnam will receive 43 thousand tons and 36.8 thousand tons from Russia in the first half of the year, respectively.
In total, in 2023, the increase in pork production in agricultural enterprises amounted to 6.5% or more than 340 thousand tons in live weight, according to the union’s data. The decrease in production on private plots and peasant (farm) farms reduced the overall increase in pork production in Russia to 4.9% or almost 290 thousand tons in live weight.
In the first half of 2024, the increase in pork production in agricultural enterprises will be 6.8% or 185 thousand tons in live weight, experts expect. A decrease in pork production in private household plots and peasant farms will reduce the overall increase in production in Russia to 5.8% or 166 thousand tons in live weight.
The event was organized at the leading meat processing plant AGROEKO in the Pavlovsky district of the Voronezh region. About 40 guests gathered here: members of the NSS Board of Directors, owners and managers of pig-breeding holdings, as well as representatives of federal departments and regional authorities.
