The volume of agricultural production in Russia in January - August 2019 increased by 2.6% compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 2,837.6 billion rubles.

 

According to the Federal State Statistics Service, the number of cattle in Russian farms at the end of August was 19 million heads (0.5% less than a year earlier), cows - 8 million animals (equal to a year ago). The number of sheep and goats decreased by 3.5%, to 24.7 million heads, while the number of pigs increased by 5.8%, to 25.8 million animals.

In January - August of this year, 9.1 million tons of livestock and poultry were produced for slaughter (live weight) (1.3% more than in the same period last year), 21.5 million tons of milk (1 , 5% more) and 30.2 billion eggs (0.7% less).

As for the products of the processing industry, 3.1 million tons of poultry meat and offal were produced in Russia in eight months. that is 3.8% less than a year earlier. The production of other types of meat - beef, pork, lamb, goat meat, horse meat, etc. - increased by 7.7%, to 1.8 million tons.

The production of meat and meat-containing semi-finished products in Russia increased by 9.4% and amounted to 2.3 million tons in January-August. Production of sausages remained at the same level as last year - 1.5 million tons. The production of canned meat increased by 10.3%, up to 438 million conditional cans.
