Russia is capable of ensuring food security for friendly countries importing domestic agricultural products. The head of the Ministry of Agriculture Oksana Lut stated this at a round table meeting of the State Duma Committee on Agrarian Issues, TASS writes.

The minister noted that our country has already fulfilled internal food safety requirements for almost all main types of food products. For now, the necessary work remains to be done in relation to milk and fruit and berry products. “For all other indicators, namely food, the indicators have been met and exceeded, which gives us the opportunity to provide not only for ourselves, but also for our partners in other countries,” Lut emphasized.

The head of the Ministry of Agriculture also recalled Russia’s new export successes this year. In particular, our country became the largest supplier of barley and peas for the first time in history. As for the last of the crops, the minister noted that recently “it has not developed much,” but in three years a huge breakthrough has been made in the production of both it and other legumes. Lut also previously reported that by 2030, the production and export of grain and leguminous crops in Russia as a whole should increase to 170 and 80 million tons, respectively.
