Production volume of cooled or chilled beef, pork, lamb, goat, and horse meat from January-October 2020 increased by 11.4% compared to the same period in 2019.

The production volume of cooled or chilled beef, pork, lamb, goat meat, horse meat and venison in January-October 2020 in Russia increased by 11.4% compared to the same period in 2019 and amounted to 2.5 million tons. This is stated in the materials of Rosstat (Federal State Statistic Service).

According to statistics, the volume of production of poultry meat for the reporting period decreased by 0.5% and amounted to 4 million tons. The production of semi-finished meat products increased by 8.4%, to 3.3 million tons, the production of sausages - by 3.4%, to 2 million tons, canned meat - by 12.3%, to 627 million standard cans.

In addition, the volume of production of sunflower oil and its unrefined fractions increased by 10% and amounted to 4.7 million tons.

The production of wheat and wheat-rye flour decreased by 1.5%, to 7 million tons.

As stressed in the Ministry of Agriculture, at present, the domestic agro-industrial complex is the driver of the Russian economy and demonstrates high rates of development in all key areas. At the same time, the highest dynamics is observed in the segment of the food and processing industry. "Positive dynamics was achieved thanks to the systematic growth of agricultural raw materials production, an increase in supplies to foreign markets, improvement of state support measures, as well as the modernization of production. The high rates of development of the industry allow fully providing the domestic market with basic food products and increasing export potential," the ministry said.
