Russian breeders offered to breed deaf chickens that would not be stressed by extraneous noise at work. Aleksey Komarchev, Leading Researcher at the Department of Genetics and Breeding of the All-Russian Research and Technological Institute of Poultry Breeding (FGBNU Federal Scientific Center "VNITIP"), spoke about this at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Veterinary Medicine in the Agro-Industrial Complex - 2022" in Novosibirsk.

“If the broiler does not hear anything, the production noise does not bother him,” the scientist explained.

According to Aleksey Komarchev, the high productivity of a bird is made up of its safety, growth rate, egg production and the amount of feed used. “The safety of the bird depends on resistance and stress resistance. Still, most diseases manifest themselves under stress. The bird got nervous - the disease manifested itself, ”explained the expert.

For a bird of an egg direction, the duration of its operation is also important. Previously, the bird was laid for 53 weeks. Now the egg production of hens has been increased to 90 weeks. Russian breeders are working to increase the duration of poultry operation up to 100 weeks. “This has a huge economic effect, because we don't have to raise replacement young animals once again. The bird flies for a long time. The prolongation of the service life is also important from the point of view of ecology, because we significantly save feed and sown areas,” added Alexey Komarchev.

According to him, the duration of operation is largely tied to the behavior of the bird. If a bird is not aggressive towards its relatives, if it is stress-resistant, it better tolerates all manipulations with it.
