Rosselkhoznadzor received an official letter from the Hong Kong competent authority on food safety issues (Center for Food Safety, Food and Environmental Hygiene Department), containing a decision on the possibility of starting deliveries of pork, beef, and pork and beef by-products from Russia to Hong Kong.

This was preceded by the perennial (over 4 years) work of the Rosselkhoznadzor with colleagues from Hong Kong, which included numerous negotiations, the preparation of extensive multipage materials on the veterinary surveillance system in Russia at all stages of animal production, the organization of inspection by representatives of the Hong Kong and competent authority of Russian enterprises - manufacturers of such products.

To the opening of the Hong Kong market significantly contributed the electronic veterinary certification (Mercury) introduced in Russia last July, the possibilities of which were demonstrated to Hong Kong colleagues during their inspection of Russian enterprises.

Currently, 3 Russian producers of beef and beef by-products and 23 producers of pork and pork by-products have the right to supply these products to Hong Kong. These products may be shipped to Hong Kong immediately, accompanied by veterinary certificates agreed between the Rosselkhoznadzor and the Hong Kong competent authority.
