Perspective markets for the export of Russian poultry products may be Iran and African countries, Veterinary and Life reports with reference to the head of the National Union of Poultry Farmers Sergey Lakhtyukhov.

Regarding the first option, he noted that the republic could also become a "convenient and cost-effective hub" for further distribution of products. The specialist called other advantages the opportunity to get away from deliveries through the Suez Canal, as well as to reduce the cost of delivering food to the Arab countries and the states of Southeast Asia. He noted that the solution of these problems will facilitate the currently discussed creation of a logistics corridor between Russia and Iran "North-South". As for Africa, Lakhtyukhov noted that Russian poultry farmers have seriously increased supplies to the continent.

The expert named the countries of the Persian Gulf, especially Saudi Arabia, as another important market. In particular, poultry fillets and carcasses, as well as cutting products, are supplied to the territory of the kingdom, and their export volumes are growing monthly. Another important area Lakhtyukhov called the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, including Kazakhstan, where Russia ships more than 50 thousand tons of poultry products per year. Lakhtyukhov recalled that in 2019-2020 alone, almost half of the export of Russian poultry products went to China, and today the share of deliveries there has decreased and is compensated by the above regions. “We are opening new directions there, developing mechanisms for interaction, and here we see a rather optimistic picture,” said the head of the industry union. Now the share of China, according to him, accounts for up to 40 percent of the total volume of deliveries. Of these, 60 percent were traditionally in demand chicken feet, the rest - by-products, as well as wings and elbow joints of poultry.

The head of the union also noted that over the past four years, Russian poultry farmers have increased the supply of their products to foreign markets by 68 percent. Over the past year alone, exports increased by 16 percent from 2021. In general, they supplied their products to 40 countries.
