According to the results of January-September of this year, Russians bought meat seven times more often than fish, while citizens began to purchase natural products more often, according to Sbermarket data.
“Among all fresh products, vegetables are the most popular. They account for about a third of all fresh products sold. In 20% of cases, fruits are purchased, in 16% - milk and dairy products. Following them in popularity is meat (12%), it is noteworthy that it is bought 7 times more often than fish, ”says a study of orders for fresh goods (milk, meat, fish, herbs, fruits, vegetables) in Russia.
It is noted that when buying meat, the choice of Russians falls mainly on chicken: most often they take a drumstick and breast fillet. Among red meat, the leader is pork ham, but this product was taken 12 times less often than chicken drumsticks. From fish, pollock and cod are usually ordered. At the same time, among the vegetables, the inhabitants of the country most often choose tomatoes, potatoes and cucumbers. Among the favorite fruits are bananas, apples, tangerines.
At the same time, the demand for the fresh category varies depending on the season: most often, Russians feel the need for fresh products in the first quarter of the year (the share is about 43% of all orders for goods in this category). Demand is also noticeable in June-July, when seasonal berries and fruits appear on the shelves - for these two months in 2022, the share of demand was 34% of the category. "According to the results of January-September 2022, the demand for them (fresh products - ed.) increased by 68% compared to the same period last year," the service added.
Most fresh products are ordered among the cities of the Russian Federation in Moscow, St. Petersburg is in second place, and Yekaterinburg is in third. In all these cities, bananas, dairy products, tomatoes, and potatoes are the most commonly put into the basket. Moreover, in most regions they prefer dairy products of local producers.
