After the New Year holidays, Russians began to show interest in healthy eating. Russians' interest in carbonated drinks, alcohol and sweets has decreased, while interest in healthy food and fresh vegetables and fruits has grown.
In the first month of 2023, Russians have shown a growing interest in healthy eating. Representatives of SberMarket spoke about how the choices of Russians have changed in online food shopping.
Analysts of the online grocery delivery service studied the choices of Russians when shopping at the beginning and middle of the month. In the first days after the new year, according to the service, the demand for alcohol, carbonated drinks, sweets and mayonnaise remained traditionally high, but by the middle of the month it had decreased by 9%. At the same time, Russians' interest in healthy eating began to grow.
By the middle of the month, Russians revised their elections and began to buy fruits and vegetables more often — 22% and 30% more often, respectively, analysts report. Eggs were bought more often by 20%, water - by 17%, and dairy products accounted for 48% of all ordered products. The volume of purchases in the categories "sweets without sugar" and "healthy choices" increased significantly - by 30% in each category, with flour (rice, semolina, etc.), oatmeal flakes and oat milk.
Also, according to SberHealth, in January, the number of consultations of Russians with nutritionists increased by 43%. Analysts note that in January last year, such a surge of interest in professional advice was not observed.
