The World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) has officially recognized the status of Russia as a country free from contagious pleuropneumonia of cattle and plague of small ruminants.

Extensive research, analytical and practical work carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, Rosselkhoznadzor and the regional veterinary services to win this international status was based on extensive laboratory studies in each constituent entity of the Russian Federation and brand new methodologies for assessing the epizootic status implemented on the national scale.
In 2020, the Russian Federation, first of the EAEU countries, was officially put on the OIE list of 58 member states of the organization free from small ruminant plague and the list of 20 countries free from cattle contagious pleuropneumonia (the OIE encompasses 182 countries).
International recognition of the well-being in contagious pleuropneumonia of cattle and small ruminant plague approbates the highest performance of Russian state veterinary services. For our foreign partners the OIE status reinforces the confidence in Russian veterinary system, boosting thus the export potential of national agriculture.
