Scientists from the Biological Institute of Tomsk State University (TSU) told which meat is the most useful. Turns out it's not beef or pork.
The press service of TSU reported about the trend that has spread in Asia and Europe - eating invertebrate meat. In the Russian Federation, this direction is at the beginning of development, but it has prospects.
According to the leading researcher of the Institute of Systematics and Ecology of Animals of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergey Chernyshev, animal proteins are extremely important for people to ensure life. At the same time, he called invertebrate animals for these purposes "the best option."
TSU studies the nutritional value of mollusks and insects: gray and red slugs, rhinoceros beetles. It turned out that in some respects they are better than traditional farm animals - they have less fat, zinc, phosphorus, iron, magnesium.
At the same time, eating insects and shellfish is an environmentally friendly approach. They are not grown using antibiotics and pesticide feed. In addition, invertebrates are "a cost-effective story," the scientist said.
