In the short term, the government of the Stavropol Territory plans to increase the volume of lamb production three times.

Governor of the Stavropol Territory Vladimir Vladimirov spoke about regional developments in the field of sheep breeding on the sidelines of the exhibition “All-Russian Field Day - 2024”, held on June 20-22 in Minvody. Great hopes for the development of the industry, he noted, are associated with the large-scale investment project of the Damate group of companies, which intends to form a breeding herd of sheep for meat production. Now their population in the Stavropol Territory is 1.5 million.

Approximately 25% of agricultural meat product exports from the Stavropol Territory are poultry, but in 2023 the volume of lamb supplies to foreign markets increased sevenfold.
