For combating with cattle smuggling, temporary engineering facilities will be fenced off on the border with Uzbekistan, the Internet portal Pticainfo.ru reports as referred to the State Agency for Land Resources.

"For dealing with an animal smuggling, temporary engineering facilities will be erected on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border," said Abdulat Myrzaev, acting chairman of the State Land Agency, during a government briefing.

According to him, this measure was taken due to numerous cases of smuggling of animals and cargoes.

"Temporary facilities will be fences off by agreement of the border services of the two countries. Funds from Kyrgyzstan are allocated for financing. The work will be completed within a year, "he said.

Meanwhile, according to the results of last year , the number of cattle, small cattle, as well as horses, the number of pigs, rabbits increased, and poultry in Kyrgyzstan became smaller, the National Statistical Committee reports.

In December, the National Statistics Committee and the Ministry of Agriculture carried out a recount of livestock and poultry and published the results.

Below are statistics at the end of 2019 and 2020.

In 2020, an increase in the number of cattle livestock was recorded to 1 million 715.8 thousand head (an increase of 35 thousand head); small cattle livestock population was up to 6 million 278.6 thousand head (plus 12 thousand head); horses number was up to 539.6 thousand head (plus 17 thousand); meanwhile, the number of poultry was down to 6 million 70.4 thousand head (which is 140.7 thousand less than a year earlier); pigs number was down to 29.5 thousand head (minus 5.3 thousand).
