The analysis covers 32 commodity groups. The study examined food prices in 9 retail chains in three different formats: convenience stores, hypermarkets and supermarkets. When calculating the cost of the basic basket, basic food products were taken into account, including bread, vegetables and fruits, groceries, meat and fish, dairy products, eggs and other commodity groups of daily demand.

Of the cities examined, the highest prices for products in the networks studied were recorded in St. Petersburg - the average cost of a consumer food basket was 4,082 rubles. In second place is Khimki - 4,067 rubles, in third - Moscow - 4,047 rubles. Mytishchi is in fourth place in terms of the cost of a food basket - 4,010 rubles. In fifth place is Ufa (3,976 rubles).

Among convenience stores, the lowest cost of a food basket was noted in the Pyaterochka retail chain. It was estimated at 3,315 rubles on average. The cost was 7.6% higher in the Magnit network - 3,568 rubles; followed by Dixy, where the cost of the food basket was 3,670 rubles. The most expensive chain was VkusVill with an average cost of a basic set of products of 5,103 rubles (54% more than in Pyaterochka).

At the same time, within the proximity stores format, Pyaterochka most often offered the most profitable basket - in 13 out of 18 cities, its cost turned out to be the lowest: Arkhangelsk, Astrakhan, Volgograd, Yekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, Krasnoyarsk, Moscow, Mytishchi, Rostov-on- Don, St. Petersburg, Tyumen, Ufa, Chelyabinsk. In Kazan, Krasnodar, Novosibirsk and Perm, Magnit u Doma has the most profitable basket, and in Khimki, Dixy.

Among supermarkets and hypermarkets, the lowest cost of a food basket was noted in the retail chains Magnit Hypermarket (RUB 3,716) and Lenta (RUB 3,831). At the same time, Lenta offers the most profitable options in more regions - in 7 of the 18 cities surveyed, the set of products in this network turned out to be the cheapest. Spar became the most expensive network with an average cost of a basic set of products of 4,095 rubles.

In total, among all the formats present in the regions, we can single out leaders in the most frequently encountered profitable grocery basket: Pyaterochka in 11 cities, including Moscow, Arkhangelsk, Volgograd, Ufa, Rostov-on-Don, St. Petersburg, etc.; "Magnet" in the format "at home" turned out to be the most profitable in just 4 cities (Kazan, Krasnodar, Novosibirsk, Perm). In Astrakhan, the cheapest food basket is in the Lenta hypermarket chain, in Tyumen in the Magnit Hyper chain, and in Khimki - Dixy.

“Price is a key factor in choosing a store for a customer. But it is important that the minimum food basket covers the basic needs of a person. Therefore, along with prices, the assortment offered by the distribution network is very important for the buyer, ”said Ksenia Paizanskaya, director of the M-Romir business area.
