The government has approved quotas for the import of beef and poultry meat into Russia in 2024. The resolution was published on the legal information portal.
The tariff quota for fresh or chilled cattle meat is 40 thousand tons, including 29 thousand tons for supplies from the European Union and 11 thousand from other countries. The size of the tariff quota for frozen cattle meat is 530 thousand tons: 60 thousand tons each for the USA and the European Union, 3 thousand tons for Costa Rica, 407 thousand tons for other countries.
The quota for poultry meat and poultry by-products is 364 thousand tons. Of this volume, 250 thousand tons are frozen halves or quarters of carcasses, legs and pieces of domestic chickens. The quota for frozen meat supplies is 100 thousand tons, including 80 thousand tons from the European Union. Supplies of frozen meat and turkey carcasses are limited to a quota of 14 thousand tons.
At the same time, quotas for the import of meat from the European Union and the United States are not distributed among participants in foreign trade activities due to the food embargo that Russia imposed on the products of these countries in 2014.
