The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) decided to establish and distribute import quotas for meat products and whey for the next year. This was reported in the press service of the commission.
For Russia and Kazakhstan, they are set in the amounts fixed in the protocols on accession to the WTO. Thus, for cattle meat (cattle) they will amount to 570,000 and 21,000 tons, poultry meat and offal - 364 and 140 thousand. For Armenia, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan, their value is determined within the difference between consumption and production, taking into account the volumes requested by these republics. This is 12, 20 and two thousand tons for the first and 39.1, 10.9 and 58 thousand for the second. Pork is not subject to a quota. Instead, from 2021, this type of meat is subject to a 25 percent duty.
The reason for the introduction of quotas in the EEC was a serious negative difference between the indicators for the production and consumption of these types of meat and dairy products. For example, most of all it is for poultry meat - 210,800 tons. The indicator for cattle meat is slightly lower - 204,500 tons. The smallest imbalance is observed in pork and whey - 60,000 and 10,350 tons, respectively.
Recall that the Eurasian Economic Commission sets quotas for certain categories of agricultural products supplied to the customs territory of the bloc countries in accordance with the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union.
