For the past few months, inflation in Russia has been declining. On the shelves, some products become cheaper (seasonal fruits and vegetables), some, albeit more slowly, but continue to rise in price, for example, chicken eggs. About what to expect from prices in stores next, the Prime agency asked the associate professor of the Department of Statistics of the Russian Economic University named after. G.V. Plekhanov Olga Lebedinskaya. The expert listed products that may rise in price in stores before the end of the year

“If you look at the general dynamics of prices and inflation in the countries with which we have the highest trade turnover, then there are double-digit growth figures everywhere. In Belarus, they failed, as planned, to keep prices at the level of 9%. Now in Belarus it is 12-13% and it is expected that by the end of the year it will be 20%. As for the EU, it is clear that inflation and prices will only go up. In Turkey, inflation in annual terms has already gone off the charts at 83%,” the expert explained the economic situation.

She noted that the government of the Russian Federation is making a lot of efforts to contain prices and there are no special reasons for growth. “There is no unsecured demand for products in the country, and for the most part, there are also just enough groups of goods,” Lebedinskaya added.

Due to the end of the harvesting season for fruits and vegetables, we can expect a slight correction in prices for potatoes, cabbage, ground pepper, and eggplant. Due to the embargo on the export of products abroad to unfriendly countries, the dynamics of prices for grain and meat products will remain at the same level.

“Difficulties experienced by fisheries may contribute to a slight increase in prices for their products, within 5%,” the agency’s interlocutor explained and added that it is also possible to reduce the cost of some consumer goods: office paper, stationery.
