Rosstandart in cooperation with scientific and industry associations approved the first six national standards (GOSTs)  for organic agricultural products.

Standards for green products in the country are essential. With their adoption, agricultural production will increase according to technology that causes minimal damage to the environment. Producers using them will be able to use labeling, which is a hallmark of green products, which confirms the transition from intensive agriculture to a more sparing, prudent use of resources.

When developing Russian GOSTs, the European and international experience of standardization in the field of precision agriculture, as well as the EU regulations "On the Ecological Mark of the European Union" were studied and used in detail.

So, standards have been adopted regarding agricultural products, raw materials and food, their terms and definitions, conformity assessment. The conditions for its production, transportation and storage are stipulated. The requirements for mineral fertilizers are described and the methods for determining lead, cadmium, arsenic and other chemical elements are refined.

Possessing “green” standards, Russian farmers will be able to compete in the foreign market with their products.
