Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev issued an order relating to the conditions in the labeling system for finished products of Russian enterprises and the list of goods which are subject to labeling, Vedomosti reported. Since 2017 the Government-authorized Center for Promising Technologies has been working on the labeling system for Russian goods. By 2019, the requirement of mandatory labeling was applied to 12 categories of goods. The order of the Prime Minister proposes to expand their list to nine more groups. In particular, the government intends to introduce the labeling of food products such as: groceries, baby food, vegetable oils, soft drinks and finished products from fish and meat and dairy products. The proposals of the government were sent to the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). The decision on the changes they envisaged has not yet been made. A complete system of labeling and tracing the turnover of raw materials and finished products of Russian enterprises should be established by 2024.
