Until Saturday, January 20, Turkey can import 885,600 chicken edible eggs into Russia. Interfax reports this with reference to data from the United Grain Company (UGC).

Although it usually deals with the regulation of grain supplies and other issues of the grain market, this time the organization is responsible for the delivery of this product to our country. The Ministry of Agriculture previously reported plans to import eggs to her. According to him, she was originally supposed to arrive on January 15. However, soon after this, UZK informed RIA Novosti that loading of the shipment was delayed due to unfavorable weather conditions. It was supposed to be delivered to the port of Novorossiysk. As of today, customs clearance of eggs is completed.

This was the first time that eggs were delivered by sea and not through the Yarag-Kazmalyar checkpoint. Their first shipment arrived from Turkey through this checkpoint on January 4. It amounted to 316,800 pieces with a total weight of 19.36 tons. We also remind you that the goods are supplied from Azerbaijan. This republic has already imported five batches into our country. The first of these, 612,000 eggs and 36 tons, was shipped on December 19th. On the 21st and 24th of the same month, two more were delivered, each weighing 306,000 and 18 tons, respectively. On January 11, one and a half million pieces were sent with a total weight of 18.63 tons. The last batch was imported yesterday and amounted to 918 thousand eggs or 55.72 tons, respectively.

The decision to allow the supply of eggs to the Russian market from friendly countries without duties was made at a meeting of the government subcommittee on customs, tariff and non-tariff regulation and protective measures in foreign trade held in December last year. The measure was introduced from January to June of this year for the export of no more than 1.2 billion eggs. The Ministry of Agriculture previously voiced a corresponding proposal. Also at the end of autumn, the agricultural department agreed with domestic producers of chicken eggs to increase their own parallel production. In addition, some of them, as well as domestic retail chains, have kept their markups on these products to a minimum. At the end of the year, the head of the ministry, Dmitry Patrushev, expressed hope that both the tariff benefit itself and the above-mentioned steps of manufacturers and retailers will help reduce product prices after the New Year holidays. President Vladimir Putin expressed the same opinion. The head of state apologized for the rising prices for this product and its shortage. He explained what happened for two reasons: demand, which noticeably outstripped production, as well as a failure in the work of the Government, which did not allow the import of these products in a timely manner.
