Dmitry Patrushev, Minister of Agriculture of Russia, held a meeting on the current situation in the agricultural sector.The participants discussed ensuring a smooth sector's performance during the pandemic, the progress of sowing and harvesting campaigns, and other topical issues.


The Minister highlighted the need to intensify vaccination of the industry workers due to the spread of coronavirus. "We should keep in mind that the agricultural sector is a huge system that ensures the country's food security. It is necessary to raise awareness about vaccination among employees of enterprises, regional agricultural authorities, subordinate institutions and universities," said Dmitry Patrushev. He urged that, if possible, vaccination points should be placed at large enterprises and educational institutions.

As for the spring fieldwork, it is currently finishing up. The area under the spring crops now totals 51.8 million hectares, which is higher than last year. Harvesting has already started in some regions in the North Caucasus and the south.

Another topic addressed at the meeting was the transfer of state support funds to the farmers. Dmitry Patrushev applied to the regions to adopt all the necessary regulations in the shortest time, and to speed up the approval and preparation of the documents for the transfer of subsidies.
