Russia, after the EU approves increased duties on Russian products, will look for other markets. Oksana Lut, head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, told TASS about this.
“Probably the main types of products that we supplied there were products from the fat and oil sector. Last year we supplied a large volume of durum wheat, especially to Italy in connection with the production of pasta. Accordingly, we will now, after the approval of EU duties, of course we will look for other markets [for oil and fat products and beet pulp],” she said on the sidelines of the plenary session “Food Security of the Eurasian Economic Union,” held as part of the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in the Chinese-Belarusian industrial park “Great Stone” located near Minsk. .
Lut emphasized that “Russia remains committed to humanitarian policy.” “If people need food, we will supply food. If the EU does not want to feed its residents, then that is their choice,” she said.
“From an export point of view, we will look for other markets, we were preparing for this situation, it is not some kind of surprise for us, we have road maps on how we will move forward,” noted the head of the Ministry of Agriculture.
Lut added that other markets “are all key partners of the Russian Federation, target countries.” “It’s just an increase in volume,” she explained.
Previously, the EU Council approved the introduction of prohibitive tariffs on the import of agricultural products from Russia and Belarus from July 1.
