LLP "Kirova" in the Pavlodar region specializes in the production of milk. The farm has four farms (three with dairy cows and one with young animals), the total number of dairy cows is 2800. The milk yield is 26 liters per cow per day. In order to increase milk yield, the company started Holsteinization of cattle. The farm employees told AgroCaravan Moloko 2022 about this.

“Our livestock is Simmental, but a year ago we started Holsteinization. That is, with the help of artificial insemination with Holstein seed, we improve the milk characteristics of animals. Now we have just begun to receive Holsteinized young animals, it is too early to talk about the results. According to the results of last year, the average milk yield per cow was 7200-7300 liters, while the potential of Simmental is 9-10 tons per lactation. Well, Holstein can produce 11-12 tons,” said Andrei Bozhok, manager of Kirova LLP.

As Aleksey Kitain, regional director of Hunland, noted in his turn, the program of Holsteinization of Simmental cattle meets the objectives of the development of dairy farming in Kazakhstan. But this process is long and laborious, it requires several breeding periods for successful implementation. Therefore, Hunland offers an alternative.

“I think Kazakhstan would be interested in the program of accelerated breeding renewal offered by our company. Its essence is that the offspring received by the enterprise is not used for its own reproduction, but is sold on the domestic market. And the released capacities are filled with imported cattle of the highest selection level. This breeding stock allows you to very quickly raise the overall genetic level of animals, dramatically improving the economy of the economy. Of course, this requires a state program that would support the sale of young animals on the domestic market, and on the other hand, would support the import of imported breeding young animals with subsidies. In this case, the enterprise itself will not require additional financial investments in the renewal of livestock,” said Alexey Kitain.
