Food production in the Russian Federation in January-May of this year compared to the same period last year increased by 7.3%, and beverage production by 11.2%, Rosstat reported on Wednesday.
In May, in annual terms, food production increased by 7.9%, compared to April - decreased by 1.5%.
Production of poultry meat and offal for 5 months compared to the same period last year increased by 1%, to 2.2 million tons. In May, in annual terms, production was higher by 3.8%, compared with April of this year - by 5.1%.
In 5 months, 1.5 million tons of beef, pork, lamb and meat of other animals (chilled) were produced (5.2% more), sausages - 1 million tons (3.5% more), fish products (including crustaceans and mollusks) - 1.8 million tons (3.4% more).
Production of unrefined sunflower oil in January-May in annual terms increased by 26.7%, to 3.6 million tons, margarine - by 7.2%, to 194 thousand tons.
Dairy processing plants produced 139 thousand tons of butter over 5 months, which is 0.6% more than a year earlier. Cheese production increased by 13.5%, to 353 thousand tons, cottage cheese - by 5.7%, to 197 thousand tons.
Flour millers produced 3.9 million tons of flour (9.2% more). 810 thousand tons of cereals were produced (9.2% more), 2 million tons of baked goods were baked (1.3% less).
Sugar production amounted to 899 thousand tons, which is almost 1.5 times more than last year.
