The total volume of the pork market in Russia in January-November 2023 amounted to 3.475 million tons in slaughter weight, which is 3.4% more than in January-November 2022. The indicator takes into account domestic production, imports and excludes exports.

Over the 11 months of 2023, Russian agricultural organizations produced 3.718 million tons of pork in slaughter weight (3.07 million 070 thousand tons in live weight), which is 6.1% more than a year ago. The regions of the Central Federal District accounted for 57% of the all-Russian production of this type of meat. In this district, industrial pork production increased by 9.6% year-on-year. An increase in production was also noted in the Volga and Far Eastern federal districts - by 10.4% and 12.1%, respectively. The top 3 regions in terms of growth rates included Tver (+51%), Bryansk (+42.9%) and Oryol (+21.1%) regions.

A decrease in production indicators is observed in the North Caucasus (-2.9%), Southern (-0.8%), Ural (-3.8%), North-Western (-2.6%) and Siberian (-6. 9%). The sharpest drop was recorded in the Novosibirsk (-39%), Lipetsk (-12.7%) and Chelyabinsk (-9.6%) regions.

By December 1, the number of pigs in all categories of farms across the country increased by 1.8% (0.5 million heads) year-on-year and amounted to 28.4 million heads. In agricultural organizations, the number of animals over the year increased by 2.5% (by 631 million heads) and reached 26.5 million heads.

The share of imported products in the domestic market is only 0.1%.

According to analysts, the volume of exports of pig products from Russia to non-CIS countries in January-November increased 2.2 times compared to the same period in 2022. Supplies to Serbia, Vietnam, Mongolia, South Ossetia, China, and Korea have increased noticeably. Export volumes to Azerbaijan and Abkhazia decreased. Supplies to the EAEU countries increased by 15%. The Republic of Belarus accounts for 84% of all exports to the EAEU countries, Kazakhstan – 10%, and 6% and 1% are sent to Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, respectively.
