Manufacturers should not apply these terms to packaging without confirming the natural composition of the products, officials say.
Roskachestvo proposes to limit the free use of product labeling with “eco”, “bio” and “farm” labels. This was reported by the organization’s press service.
To regulate such terminology and it is necessary to equate the first two concepts ("eco" and "bio") with organic products that are produced without chemical components, said Roskachestvo. And the third designation ("farm") should get the definition and special requirements.
As a result, eco-producers will have to confirm the natural composition of their products. Now the use of such labels is not regulated, and manufacturers can print this marking on any product. Often the use of such terminology is just a marketing ploy.
In the future, bio-and eco-products from Europe can be equated with organic products. Now foreign suppliers receive international certificates issued mainly in the EU. Starting January 1, 2020, they will also have to have Russian certificates.
