At the International Agricultural Congress ASIAEXPO-2023, General Director of the National Union of Milk Producers (Soyuzmoloko) Artem Belov shared his thoughts on the three leading trends that determine the modern development of agriculture in Russia. These trends include exports, competition for government support and increased efficiency. Let's look at each of them in more detail.
The first trend is related to exports and focus on foreign markets. In recent years, Russian agriculture and the food industry have undergone significant changes, reorienting from imports to exports. Previously, Russia was dependent on imports, but now the country is actively developing its export industry. Artem Belov noted that milk has become one of the most promising export products, and this year about 15% of Russia's skimmed milk powder is exported, which is important for regulating the market. Statistics for 2022 show that agricultural exports amounted to approximately US$45 billion. This indicates that the task set by the state was completed ahead of schedule, and Russia can further develop in crop production, livestock farming and the processing industry. In the future, it is possible to develop the export of genetics, including seeds and breeding material.
The second trend is competition for government support. Artem Belov noted that the successful development of the agricultural industry is impossible without government funding. He emphasized that not many industries in Russia can boast of such a level of government support as agriculture. However, competition for these funds is a challenge for manufacturers. To receive government support, it is necessary to provide high-quality projects that will contribute to the development and efficiency of the industry.
The third trend is increasing efficiency. In Russian agriculture, increasing production efficiency is becoming increasingly important.
