Rosselkhoznadzor temporarily restricts deliveries of live pigs and pig products from Vietnam.

Since March 5, 2019 the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) has introduced temporary restrictions on the supply of live pigs and pork products from Vietnam due to the registration of African swine fever in this country. Outbreaks of a dangerous disease are confirmed by official data from the International Epizootic Bureau (OIE).

Restrictions apply to domestic pigs, products of slaughter, used equipment for housing, sperm and embryos of domestic pigs. The exceptions are the following types of products that have been processed according to technology that guarantees the destruction of the ASF virus, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 15.1 of the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code:

finished pork products;

finished products containing in its composition pork or animal raw materials (from pork);

raw materials of animal origin (from pork), intended for the production of feed for non-productive animals and fur animals.

It should be noted that the ban imposed also concerns the transit through the territory of the Russian Federation of domestic pigs and captive wild pigs originating from the territory of Vietnam.
