Primorsky reion demonstrated impressive results in the development of agriculture last year. How a purely industrial region managed to create a strong agricultural sector in five years - in the material of the news agency Vostok.Today. The output of agricultural products in the Far Eastern Federal District increased by 11% last year. In Primorsky Krai by as much as 15%.We`ll feed ourselves and our neighbors - the phenomenal growth rates of animal husbandry in Russian Far East

At the same time, the output of livestock products in Primorye increased by 37.5%. The enterprises increased the production of livestock and poultry for slaughter (in live weight) for the year by 90% - up to 105.6 thousand tons. And pork production has grown by 2.5 times - up to 76.6 thousand tons.

Meanwhile, five years ago, Primorsky Krai bought pork from the Altai Republic.

“Today, the region not only meets the demand for this type of product, but also supplies it to neighboring regions,” said Oleg Kozhemyako, Governor of the Primorsky Territory.

Several factors contributed to this. First, the high level of state support for the sector. Agricultural producers are subsidized for the purchase of raw materials, materials, feed, equipment renewal.

Secondly, the operation of preferential regimes. Many enterprises are residents of the Mikhailovsky Advanced Development Territory (TOR). 17 out of 18 residents of this PDA have launched agricultural projects, their total investment is estimated at 80 billion rubles. When implementing investment projects, such enterprises can reduce the tax and administrative burden.

Investor takes advantage

Initiatives in terms of large investment projects have become the main catalyst for changes in the industry.

In 2021, Rusagro-Primorye completed the formation of a pig breeding cluster in the region with an investment of RUB 37 billion. As a result, a complete production complex has now been created: six pig breeding sites, a compound feed production workshop with an elevator with a capacity of up to 450,000 tons of compound feed per year, and motor transport. The cluster also includes the largest by-product processing and waste disposal plant in the Far East, a pedigree reproducer and a seed production center.

Another major player in the regional market, the Mercy Trade company, began developing the farm with 25,000 pigs, and now there are 200,000 pigs in the herd. The company has invested more than 1 billion rubles in the creation of a pig-breeding cluster.

At the same time, there were no negative factors for the monopolization of the market in the region. Despite the presence of large players, small farms find their niche. Sergey Dudnik, director of the Agrofond-P company, told the regional media about this. His company, for example, produces organic farm products.

This year, to all these factors, another effect was added - the withdrawal of foreign competitors from the market.

“Companies that saw this as an opportunity for growth won,” said Alexander Bekker, General Director of the Green Agro agro-industrial complex.

His company built another workover complex in the Primorsky Territory last year. This made it possible to increase the milking herd of cows by 4300 heads.

Foundation for long-term growth

Thus, Primorsky Krai laid the foundation for the dynamic development of the agro-industrial complex in the long term. According to the FANU "Vostokgosplan", in the next two years, agricultural production in Primorye will increase by 13.5%. And this rate will be 5 points higher than the average dynamics in the Far Eastern Federal District, and 8 points higher than the all-Russian indicator.
