The study included products that most often cause controversy. For comparison, “eternal competitors” were chosen: fruits and vegetables, coffee and tea, poultry and meat, ketchup and mayonnaise. It turned out that in 2022 and 2023, consumer preferences did not change.
Thus, in the “Vegetables” category, the winner was tomatoes, which are purchased almost 1.5 times more often than cucumbers. And in the “Fruits” category, bananas became the leaders among Russians, surpassing apples by almost a quarter. Among baked goods, buyers are twice as likely to choose white rather than black bread, and between coffee and tea, the choice falls on the latter.
In the “Dairy Products” category, milk is the absolute leader, but between kefir and drinking yogurt, the choice falls on kefir twice as often. Preferences in choosing products from the “Meat and Poultry” category have also become known. Thus, beef is the least popular, pork is ordered a little more often, but chicken is bought almost a third more often than both types of meat combined.
The most popular sauce among Russians is mayonnaise; it is purchased 2.5 times more often than ketchup. They prefer to eat the sauce with dumplings - they are bought more than 1.5 times more often than the nuggets that follow them.
