The Ministry of Agriculture does not intend to extend the duty-free import of pork for next year, the ministry said.

What happened

* The reason is that there is enough local pork in the country.

* In January-September 2022, production growth reached 6.2%.

* Such dynamics of meat production contributes to the fact that selling prices in the country remain stable.

Details

At the end of last year, the subcommittee on customs and tariff regulation approved a tariff exemption for the import of frozen pork up to 100 thousand tons (for the first half of 2022), and frozen beef - up to 200 thousand tons (for the whole year).

Context

The subcommittee on customs-tariff and non-tariff regulation at the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation supported the proposal of the National Union of Meat Processors (NSM), according to which zero customs duties on imports of beef will be extended for the next year.
