This week is the World Pork Expo in Des Moines, Iowa. It is the premier annual Pork Expo held in the World.

The who’s who of the American and Global Swine Industry will be represented. The Expo is a showcase of what’s new in the industry and a celebration of the worlds most eaten meat – Pork.

At the Expo this year Genesus as Founding Sponsor will in conjunction with the National Hog Farmer, America’s leading Swine Magazine and Swine e-letter organization will launch the Global Mega Producer Program. Global Mega Producer recognizes Global Swine producers with over 100,000 sows. There have been 26 Global Mega Producers identified. In total these producers have 7.2 million sows, a number larger then all of the U.S producers combined.

The global swine industry continues to consolidate, as is most of every business activity. To understand, learn and prepare for now and in the future observing what is happening Globally is a reality that should be embraced. Genesus is very proud to be part of the Global Mega Producer project. The efforts of Steve May and Cheryl Day with National Hog Farmer to bring the concept to fruition has now become a reality.

The Global Mega Producer project launch will begin at no better place then the World Pork Expo. Come to the Genesus Tent to see the details of the Global Mega Producer List. (Will be having a Facebook Live event on the National Hog Farmer Facebook page at 10:00am on Wednesday June 7th).
