Armenia will import neither pork nor poultry from Russia because of reports of outbreaks of African Swine fever (ASF) and Avian Influenza (AI) that have hit this country.

According to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) and the Russian veterinary watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor, Armenia decided to ban the imports of poultry and pork from Russia to prevent the ASF disease and bird flu from entering the country.

The decision was made based on the information published by OIE and after Rosselkhoznadzor published the status of Russian regions affected by the diseases, armeniasputnik.am reports.

Starting December 14, Russia will no longer be able to export to Armenia live pigs, genetic material, wild pig meat, leather, feed for pigs, live poultry, poultry meat and eggs.
