As of March 1 of this year  cattle numbers in the farms of all agricultural producers in Russia were 18.3 million heads, which was 1% lower than the figure on the same date a year earlier,reports apk-inform.com. This was announced by Rosstat.

At the same time, the number of cows by the beginning of this month decreased by 0.7%   to 8 million heads, sheep and goats - by 4.1%, to 23.3 million heads while number of pigs increased by 2.8% to 24.2 million heads.

“In the structure of livestock households accounted for 41.3% of the cattle numbers, 10.7% - pigs, 47.1% - sheep and goats. On the same date of 2018, these figures were respectively 41.5%, 12.1% and 46.4%” , the report clarifies.
