According to the “Analysis of the meat industry in Russia” prepared by BusinesStat, in 2014-2018, meat production in the country increased by 17.3% and in 2018 amounted to 10.64 million tons. An increase in output was noted annually.

The largest shares in the Russian meat production are poultry and pork. Note that in 2014-2018, these shares increased: poultry from 45.9% to 46.7%, pork from 32.8% to 34.9%. Over the same period, the share of beef in total meat production fell from 18.2% to 15.5%, and other meat from 3.1% to 2.9%.

In 2014-2018, pork production grew at the highest rates in Russia: over 5 years, the increase was 24.9%, which was largely due to government support for this industry over the past two decades. High rates of growth in meat production were observed in 2014-2018 also in the poultry industry: over the five-year period it amounted to 19.5%. Over the five-year period, the production of meat from other livestock increased by 8.2%. The production of beef showed a decrease of 0.2% in 2014-2018. In 2014-2017, the downward trend of the indicator remained.
