African countries produce a wide range of high-quality agricultural products. Russian company "Damate" is already increasing cooperation with South African countries, which are leaders in the number of sheep.

First of all, the company is interested in joint work with South African enterprises, which is among the top ten countries in the world in terms of wool cutting. The Russian company wants to localize production in the city of Mamre, it is from there that deliveries of lamb to the Russian Federation can begin.

“I admit that this meat [from South Africa] will be of very good quality, and it may well turn out to be quite competitive in prices with the products available. Mutton production in Russia compared to what was in the USSR, has not yet been restored, so it remains small, although it continues to develop. Lamb belongs to the category of delicatessen food in Russia ”said Leonid Holod, the former deputy head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Russia in an interview with FBA“ Economy Today. ”

The expert recalled that lamb and mutton meat are much more useful meat than pork. They cost, however, also much more.

Leonid Holod said that African countries, in addition to meat, can also supply fruit to the Russian Federation. Citrus fruits are already actively imported into Russia from Algeria, Morocco and other Maghreb countries. Russia, on the other hand, can offer Africa both semi-humanitarian or low-value supplies, as well as traditional market cooperation. Leonid Holod recalled that a large amount of grain from the Russian Federation is already exported to northern Africa.

“The geography of supplies can be expanded, and the whole continent is on the list of potential partners,” the expert emphasized.
