Spanish doctors have compiled a list of products that strengthen the immune system and protect the body from influenza, SARS, and some other similar diseases.
Garlic, which is considered a natural antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal agent, topped the list. It is followed by almonds that are rich in vitamin E and blueberries, which protect the respiratory tract. Doctors also advise giving preference to chicken or turkey broth in a daily diet, as they prevent the formation of mucus during cold. Sweet potatoes, rich in beta-carotene, and broccoli, which contains vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber, are also recommended for use.
The list also includes mushrooms, dark chocolate, citrus fruits, oily fish, crustaceans, turmeric, spinach, ginger, red pepper, green tea, and some other products, Spain’s La Vanguardia newspaper reports.
