Russia more than doubled its meat exports in the first six months of this year, RBC daily reports, citing data from the Russian Agricultural Bank. China has become the largest buyer of Russian meat, ahead of Ukraine, data showed. Mainland China accounted for 45 percent of Russian meat shipments in physical terms, while Hong Kong for 54 percent of the supplies. Russia’s biggest meat producer Cherkizovo and Spain’s Grupo Fuertes have opened a new plant as part of the Tambov Turkey project, which is ranked the second-largest turkey meat production complex in the country. The second stage of Tambov Turkey recently came into production and ramps up the total production capacity by 50% to 85,000 metric tonnes per year.
