USMEF Economist Erin Borror considers Japan to be the leading value destination for both US beef and US pork, but the situation will change unless the United States secure a preferential trade agreement with the Asian country. Belarus has cancelled all previously issued permits to import pork from three regions in China because of African swine disease outbreaks. The Department of Veterinary and Food Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus has imposed restrictions on the import of pork from Guangxi Zhuang, Yunnan and Shandong provinces of China due to African swine fever. The decision was based on a notification from the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), as reported by BelTA. Czechia is the 1st country in the EU to be officially declared free from African Swine Fever (ASF) after it was infected in recent years. As no outbreak has been found in Czechia since April 2018, the country received the support of the EU member states to lift all restrictions in the country. Rosselkhoznadzor has introduced a temporary ban on import of Japanese pork from five prefectures of the country. The import of pigs from five regions of Japan is prohibited to Russia, reports rosng.ru. These are the regions of Aichi, Gifu, Nagano, Osaka and Shiga.
