Miratorg: Investment in a new plant

Russian agricultural holding Miratorg announced it has begun construction on the largest Russian high-tech complex for slaughtering and deep processing of pigs which will have a capacity of 4.5 mill. heads per year. The Russian company invested more than €2.94 bn. in the construction of the new plant, which will produce three main types of meat: poultry, pork, and beef. The new slaughterhouse in the Oktyabrsky district of the Kursk region is part of the company's plans to double the capacity of the pig division to one million tons of pork per year, which will cover Russia's need to import chilled pork. EU Report Finds Brazil Unable to Guarantee Standards on Meat Exports

IFA President Joe Healy said the latest EU FVO (Food and Veterinary Office) report covering the "Weak Flesh" meat scandal and corruption in Brazil confirms that the Brazilian authorities seriously misled the EU Commission, and cannot guarantee European consumers that meat products exported to the EU have been produced in accordance with EU requirements. MrHealy said this latest EU report completely undermines any credibility to the arguments being made in the Mercosur trade negotiations that Brazil will ever meet EU production standards on beef and other meat imports. When the Rouble crashed a few years ago, people spent their spare money on imported consumer goods ahead of price rises. They then for a period reduced spending. Cherkizovo Ranks First Among Russia's Top Meat Producers

PJSC Cherkizovo Group, the largest vertically integrated meat and feed producer in Russia, last week announced that it has come first in the 2016 Agroinvestors ranking of Russia’s top meat producers. According to Rosstat data, production of livestock and poultry for slaughter in all farms was about 9.9 million tonnes in market weight last year, a 3.1 per cent increase compared to 2015. These results indicate a high level of consolidation in the meat sector.
